The most important thing is to avoid flames. If you have a gas cooktop, do not turn it on - but you can check to make sure none of the knobs have been left with the gas on without the flame. If you have gas bottles, turn them off. If you have natural gas, turn off the isolation valve at the gas meter (this is a beige box near the front of your house, often on the side of the house or near the front fence - it's not your meter box but it's a bit like that). Next, step outside and give us a call.
